Adult Classes

Our adult classes are suitable for all age groups and all fitness levels.  They are 60 minute non-contact fitness classes that use boxing techniques to improve fitness, strength and self esteem, and include a range of activities including skipping, running, bag work, working with hand pads and core fitness.

Women's Only Classes (school term time only)

At any of our adult fitness classes, approximately 50% of participants are female.  However, in mid 2019 we determined there was a need for a Women's Only class - for women who were unsure about a gym environment, needing support to return to exercise or simply preferred exercising with other like-minded women in a non-judgemental and supportive environment.  The classes are 45 minutes long and are held every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9:15am which allows Mums to drop their kids off at school or kindy and come to the gym.  The class has proven to be very popular and are a fun way for women to be active!

What Victory Boxing offers is extraordinary; it really does have a positive impact

What Paul and the team offer at Victory Boxing is special.  It is a great place with great people and gives you an opportunity to sweat out the big and the small stuff.  It took me 6 months to finally step in the door and I’m so glad I did! I really enjoy the boxing fitness classes, and look forward to them weekly. What Victory Boxing offers is extraordinary; it really does have a positive impact.

I would just like to take the opportunity to thank you for welcoming us into your gym and taking us for a few morning sessions recently. I am one of the NZ Army Aumangea Program volunteers, and I really enjoyed the classes you took us for. It was a good chance to escape the stressors of the course and blow off a bit of steam.

My role within the army is a physical training instructor in Burnham, Chch, and I will definitely be stealing some of the activities we did with you to help condition my soldiers.

Thanks again,

Annalise Hall

Adults with Parkinson's Classes:

Twice a week we run fitness sessions for adults with Parkinson's Disease.  These fitness classes offer exercises to help with balance, co-ordination and strength.  The classes are very social and offer a supportive network for the participants.  They are run with the support and approval of the Nelson branch of Parkinson's New Zealand, and in 2019 we became an Approved Provider for Nelson Bays Primary Health for "Community Group Balance and Strength" classes.

For further information about these classes please contact us on 027 842 8679 or via email at info@victoryboxing.org.nz

Classes for Breast Cancer Survivors

Victory Boxing is very proud to be working collaboratively with the Nelson Regional Breast and Gynaecological Cancer Trust to provide an exercise class specifically tailored for breast cancer survivors.  Using boxing techniques, the workout helps improve muscle strength and increases cardiovascular fitness. This, in turn, re-energizes minds and bodies, helping to promote healing. There are also many benefits from meeting and training with fellow survivors who have a shared understanding of breast cancer.  The breast cancer group train with the Women’s Only classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:15.

Social Enterprise at work

The adult classes offered at Victory Boxing began in 2014 when Paul was asked if he'd be interested in running fitness classes for adults.  The Youth Programme was established and successful, so this seemed like a natural progression to meet the needs of the Victory Community.

The adult programme started with one or two sessions per week, and as the need increased, so too have the number of classes on offer.  We now offer seven sessions per week.  The classes focus on physical fitness, and provide a safe non-judgemental place for adults to exercise and feel good about themselves and increase their overall sense of well-being.

Our adult programme is a great example of Social Enterprise at work and is an important part of what is offered at Victory Boxing.  The income generated from the adult classes helps to ensure that Victory Boxing remains viable so we can continue working with the kids who participate in our after-school Youth Programmes.
