The driving force behind Victory Boxing is Paul Hampton, our Programme Director. Paul set up Victory Boxing in 2011, whilst he was also Deputy Principal at Victory Primary School. From humble beginnings with only 20 kids, Victory Boxing currently caters to over 400 children in its after-school programmes, as well as offering daytime programmes to college and community groups, and very popular and well-attended adult fitness classes. Paul now works full-time for Victory Boxing and ensures all our programmes deliver on our core mission which is to make a positive impact on people's lives.
In March 2021, Michèle Perfect joined the Victory Boxing team to provide administrative support to Paul and the Victory Boxing Board. Michèle is also in the gym every afternoon to welcome our youth when they arrive for their classes, and really enjoys getting to know all the kids.
Victory Boxing Patron
In 2017, Victory Boxing was very proud to appoint Jeff Rackley as the Patron of Victory Boxing. Jeff is involved with the Victory Boxing programme as a volunteer, coming down to the gym a few times a week to help out with the after school classes. He went to Victory Primary School which is when he started boxing training with his father. He went on to represent NZ as a boxer at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, and won numerous national titles. Jeff is keen to share his knowledge and passion for the sport and has been a great addition to the Victory Boxing team.
The backbone of Victory Boxing are the fantastic team of volunteers who help out with the after-school programmes, offering support and mentorship to the youth who attend. Victory Boxing has a great working relationship with Nelson Police who come down to the gym and help out whenever possible.
